Želeći Vam sretnu i uspešnu 2017. godinu, srdačno Vas pozdravljam

UPRAVNIK CENTRA ZA AGRARNU ISTORIJU

Prof. dr Zoran Njegovan

Hello and welcome to the Third Newsletter of the XV EAAE Congress

Towards Sustainable Agri-Food Systems:

Balancing between Markets and Society

Parma, August 29th – September 1st 2017
Less than a month to the Contributed Paper submission deadline!

XV EAAE Congress:
The Call for Contributions is still out

The XV EAAE Congress Call for Contributions aims to foster discussion and interaction on new scientific developments and research opportunities among scholars and representatives from business, society and policy agencies

The Programme of the XV EAAE Congress will feature organised sessions, organised panels, invited plenary presentations, contributed papers and posters as well as field trips. Please refer to the Call for Contributions and the instructions for Submission for more detailed information

In particular, policy makers, societal stakeholders and agribusiness representatives are offered the opportunity to contribute to the Programme through organised panels which have an open format and do not require a scientific paperOrganised Panels appear particularly suitable to a problem-oriented approach to a topic, which encourages panellists to take different perspectives, offer different solutions and generally open out the topic to a mixed audience
The actual format of the Panels can be selected from, but not restricted to: Round Table Discussions, moderated by a Panel Chair, where Presentations and Q&A can coexist; Authors meets critics, where a couple of written contributions or well-known positions are discussed; Workshop-style sessions on works-in-progress; "Model UN" or Oxford-Style Debates, where strong advocacy for firmly rooted positions is required and displayed; Forums, where stakeholder and citizen groups have a prominent role in discussing scientific content
In this way, the XV EAAE Congress in Parma will provide an interactive platform for researchers and representatives from non-academic institutions to represent the scientific, practise and advocacy approach to the most pressing issues for agri-food systems and society

The Templates for each type of contribution and the rules for Submission are available at this webpage. Possibilities for organising (Project) Meetings and Pre-Congress Symposia are detailed here

Please take the opportunity to share this call within your network and follow our Social Media presence (at the bottom of the page) and here. Should you require any assistance or clarification, please do not hesitate to contact the LOC of the XV EAAE Congress at info@eaae2017.it

We are almost two months away from the Deadline for Submitting Contributed Papers. Do not miss the opportunity to submit yours!!

EAAE Quality of Research Discovery and Quality of Policy Contribution Publication Awards for 2014

The EAAE is now seeking nominations in the two categories of Quality of Research Discovery and Quality of Policy Contribution for articles or other publications published in the calendar year 2014. Nominations are to be submitted using the Publication Award Nomination Form (available at www.eaae.org) and must be received by the Secretary-General of the Association (eaae.lei@wur.nl) by the 30th of April 2015.

The Publication Awards program of the European Association of Agricultural Economists (EAAE) recognizes professional excellence in research contributing to the advancement of knowledge in areas related to food, agriculture and resource economics.

Nominations, decisions and the announcement of the results for the Publication Awards occur yearly; recipients of Awards are presented at the triennial Congress of the Association (the next one will be held in Parma, August 29-September 1, 2017).

The Publication Awards program of the EAAE includes three annual Awards:

  • the Outstanding ERAE Journal Article
  • the Quality of Research Discovery Award
  • the Quality of Policy Contribution Award.

For the Outstanding ERAE Journal Article Award, all articles published in the Review in 2014 are automatically eligible. The recipient is selected by the ERAE Editorial Board; there is therefore no formal nomination procedure.

For the Quality of Research Discovery and the Quality of Policy Contribution Awards for 2014, outstanding publications (articles or other publications) should be nominated by members of the Association, including self-nominations.

A publication can be nominated for the Quality of Research Discovery and the Quality of Policy Contribution Awards only if at least one of the authors is a member of EAAE (he/she must be member at the date of expiration of this Call (April 30, 2015)).

The Award recipients are proposed to the EAAE Board by the Publication Awards Selection Committee which remains in place for the Awards triennial period 2014-2016. The Committee is composed of nine members. The Past President and current President Elect of the Association, one of the co-Editors of the ERAE and the Editor of EuroChoices are ex-officio members of the Committee, with the Past President chairing the Committee; the remaining five members are appointed by the Board.

The lists of past winners of the Outstanding ERAE Journal Article, the Quality of Research Discovery and the Quality of Policy Contribution Awards are available on the EAAE website.

Giovanni Anania

EAAE President

The Quality of Research Discovery Award

The research must be a significant contribution to the field of knowledge in any of the areas of agricultural economics. The work should demonstrate excellence in research and may deal with conceptual as well as empirical analysis of a relevant issue.

Entries must have been published in 2014. For journal articles the date of publication is that of the issue; articles available on line in their final form on the journal’s web page, for which the 2014 issue in which they will appear is unequivocally known are eligible for the Award, even if the issue has not been published in print yet. Maximum one award is given.

EAAE members who wish to make a nomination for this Award (including self-nomination) should send it using the Publication Award Nomination Form (available at www.eaae.org). Nominations should be accompanied by an electronic copy of the publication, or a link to an open access source, and forwarded to the Secretary-General of the Association (eaae.lei@wur.nl). The nomination should contain a brief outline (not more than 250 words) setting out the contribution of the publication in the context of its research field, highlighting its innovations in either conceptual understanding, methodology or data, and giving reasons why it would be deserving the Award.

Publications nominated for the Research Discovery Award should be in the English language.

The Quality of Policy Contribution Award

This Award recognizes an outstanding publication contributing ex ante to, or analyzing ex post, policy decisions. The purpose of the Award is to recognise excellence and encourage interest in applied economic analysis that can provide timely and relevant information for more effective policy debate and decisions.

Entries must have been published in 2014. For journal articles the date of publication is that of the issue; articles available on line in their final form on the journal’s web page for which the 2014 issue in which they will appear is unequivocally known are eligible for the Award, even if the issue has not been published in print yet. Maximum one Award is given.

EAAE members who wish to make a nomination for this Award (including self-nomination) should send it using the Publication Award Nomination Form (available at www.eaae.org). Nominations should be accompanied by an electronic copy of the publication or a link to an open access source and forwarded to the Secretary-General of the Association (eaae.lei@wur.nl). The nomination should contain a brief outline (not more than 250 words) setting out the contribution of the publication to the policy debate, highlighting any evidence of its policy impact, and giving reasons why it would be deserving the Award.

Publications nominated for the Quality of Policy Contribution Award can be in any European language. However, nominations for publications which are not in English should, in addition, be accompanied by a short summary of the publication in English to assist the Selection Committee.

Dear EAAE country Liaison Officer,

I am writing to you on behalf of the Board of the Association.

As you know, the EAAE introduced in 2008 the Publication Awards program to recognize professional excellence in research contributing to the advancement of knowledge in areas related to food, agriculture and resource economics.

The Publication Awards program includes three annual Awards:

  • the Quality of Research Discovery Award
  • the Quality of Policy Contribution Award
  • the Outstanding ERAE Journal Article Award.

The recipient of the Outstanding ERAE Journal Article Award is selected by the Editorial Board of the ERAE.

The EAAE is now seeking nominations for the Quality of Research Discovery and Quality of Policy Contribution Awards for articles or other publications published in the calendar year 2014.

I am writing to ask if you would be willing to help us in this process by soliciting from members of the EAAE in your country nominations of publications or articles which were published in 2014 as possible recipients for the Quality of Research Discovery and Quality of Policy Contribution Awards. Needless to say, we would very much appreciate receiving nominations from you; we would like to stress that nominations from you will not be viewed as linked to your role as a Liaison Officer, but as the result of your own personal choice.

Our intention is to ensure that there is a reasonably representative selection of high quality papers from which the Publication Awards Selection Committee can make its final decision.

Nominations are to be submitted using the Publication Award Nomination Form and must be received by the Secretary-General of the Association (eaae.lei@wur.nl) by the 30th of April 2015.

For your convenience I am sending, attached, both the Call for nominations and the Nomination Form. You'll notice in the call for nominations that a publication is eligible only if at least one of the authors is a member of EAAE (he/she must be member at the date of expiration of this Call: April 30, 2015).

If you have further queries as to the process, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.

Regards,

Chantal Le Mouël

President Elect, EAAE

No. 2703-P/2015-1

Date: 27 March, 2015

Dear President of the EAAE prof. Dr. Giovanni Anani,

There is only one national association in Serbia – the Serbian Association of Agricultural Economists (SAAE), which organized four EAAE Seminars and now we are in the preparation and implementation of the fifth EAAE Seminar in Serbiain Novi Sad in 2016.

Appreciating the decades-long successful relationship with EAAE, we decided that prof. Danilo Tomic, PhD will continueto be our liaison officers in the EAAE in the forthcoming period.

Colleague Tomic was creatively involved in organizing four EAAE Seminars which resulted in joining about 180 new members in the EAAE. We published proceedings of papers from three EAAE seminars, and after the fourth we prepared CD with all presented papers. All information obtained from the EAAE are available to our membership on the web-site of SAAE.  We also prepared two applications for EAAE Congresses in 2014 and 2017, but sadly with no success. Currently we are in the process of intensive preparations for the EAAE Seminar in Novi Sad in 2016.

Until next meeting in Serbia, best regards,

President of the SAAE

Prof. Dr. Miladin Sevarlic
